Seattle Signings Were For The Future

This past offseason the Seattle Kraken made a splash during the ACHL free agency period after signing a couple of the higher sought after names to long term deals to go along with multiple signings over that time.

Now these signings were never made for this ongoing 5th season, no, they were made with the intention of having these pieces in place for the following year.

The Kraken organization themselves, hockey experts, fans,  sports talk show personalities, really anyone who follows the sport knew that Seattle would once again be playing for a top pick this season.  When the players hit the ice next season, with Carlsson,Sennecke,Dvorsky and Brandt Clarke (NHL rerate) all joining the pro roster, the organization hopes to start seeing the team improve, maybe playing at a level that has them something outside of a top 10 pick finish.

So this past offseason was about getting pieces into place for when they arrive on the scene.  Kraken GM Wes Mucyk was trying to avoid having to do it all in one single offseason.  The team feels that their backend should be in place for that 6th season.  Allowing them to focus on their forward group.  There are a couple of veteran Dmen down on the farm this year that could push their way back up to the pro roster (next season) giving the team options for who plays in the lineup or as potential trade pieces.

When the puck drops next year, Leo Carlsson will take the job as the teams top line center, moving Sillinger down to the 2nd line as the GM originally envisioned happening with those two players.  Most likely Sennecke with flank Carlsson on the right making Dvorsky likely the right winger on the 2nd line beside Sillinger.  With Lawson deciding to test the free agent market the left side will be open on both lines.
